In its beginning, music was merely chamber music, meant to be listened to in a small space by a small audience. In the same way the first computers were set apart for the elite; the universities, the military, and the insanely rich. Today, everyone knows the latest song by Nicki Minaj, or the Postal Service and if you don't you have your very own computer look it up on. But hey, typing words into a computer are boring, so Google, Apple, and other companies started to create voice activated systems. If the big companies are growing and adapting to these changing needs of people, then where are the hackers that usually come out first, publicly? They are here, on blogs, on forums, on the internet.
I am not a hacker, I am a modder. I am trying to do something that has already been done, just for less money. If you don't think that I can do it and that I should just go buy a $650-$1500 pc tablet , well, I'm not that rich. I believe that I have a way to create a tablet better than most things out there by using just a few things: a laptop, a touch screen kit, electrical tape/ hot glue, and a few tools. In fact I already have a parts list, so here it is.

Touch Screen:http://www.ebay.com/itm/13-16-9-USB-Panel-Kit-Set-add-Touch-Screen-Function-/280667964621?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item41591d44cd
I realize that this list could very easily be incomplete, but it is a work in progress.
I would also like to give a shoutout to Kingkoopa00 for the Youtube video about disassembling an lcd screen from a laptop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUNjR-ScHNE&feature=related

Genesis
My name is Ian Howell. I have been into computer technology for a long time and I love math. I decided to create this blog, so that I can use it as an engineering notebook and for people to be able to see what I am doing. The project that I have decided to work on is a new version of tablet technology. For now I am calling it myslate, for lack of a better term. Basically it is a cheap way to turn your laptop into a fully functional tablet, without loosing your laptop capabilities. Because I am using this as an engineering notebook, I will be ending all of my posts with the date. -June 28, 2012.
